This time, FMC has given us a look at the area where the
shifter and lower center stack area meet.We have seen the shifter before, but we can now see that the traction
control button, the hazard button, and the trunk release button are now located
on the driver's side of the shift console. We can also see that the 2010 Mustang will have duel zone climate
control, as well as heated seats, at least in the GT models which we can assume
based on the other teasers from Ford. The only other information that we gather from this picture is that the
GT will offer Sirius radio and an auxiliary input source.
Let's say that you won a contest, and you would be trading
in the car that you currently drive daily to work, or whatever it is that you
go each day.You would be saying goodbye
to your current DD and you had a choice of two cars.
1968 Shelby G.T. 500 KR
2008 Shelby G.T. 500 KR
Now, before thinking about this, keep in mind that this will
be a daily driven model witha fully
stock interior, exterior, and drivetrain.Any option from the two years is available, but that's all.One of the rules is that you will be not free
to sell the car, so no consideration is to be made as to the value of the car
for resale.
For those who aren't familiar with the two, following is a brief
rundown of each.
While most of the "teasers" from Ford have given us some
insight to what we can expect for the 2010 Mustang, the newest release is
subtle enough that some people probably cant tell what they're viewing. What we are seeing is a close up of the new
PowerDome hood, originally displayed here on MF a few months back. This leaves us to wonder if the increased size
in the hood is needed to allow for more engine room...hopefully a 400 horsepower
5.0.
So, we now have an idea of what the interior looks like,
along with the side lines of the convertible, and now a small piece of the
hood.Provided that all of these teasers are on the same car, which
included what looks to be a GT rear badge, we can expect the PowerDome to be
the standard GT hood, although some people have commented that the PowerDome
might be a bit much for a standard hood.Hopefully Ford will be a bit more forthcoming with their next teasers
with 27 days left until the debut, and 2010Mustang.com shows four more pictures
to be unlocked.
Ford Motor Company's EcoBoost is nothing more than a "green
name" for twin turbocharging and direct injection, just in case you didn't
know.However, like previous TT setups
that were geared strictly towards performance, the goal of the EcoBoost is to
offer V8 performance with V6 economy. This project has proven to be successful, as EcoBoost engines are
currently available in the Lincoln MKS and Ford Flex, but there are a great
many rumors about the EcoBoost 3.5L TT V6 finding its way into the new F150
(these rumors are supported by discussions with several Ford reps who have
driven EcoBoost F150s).
So, that has to make you ask...why not the Mustang?Of course, the Mustang should always feature
an American V8 as the premium engine option, but should the rumored 5.0L engine
in the 2010 Mustang make 400 horsepower, to stay abreast the Camaro and
Challenger, the EcoBoost 3.5 would make an awesome medium trim engine. The SVO models were offered alongside a 5.0,
so the EcoBoost could become the modern day SVO, offering slightly less power
than the GT (possibly 340 compared to 400), and at the same time, the "New
Mustang SVO" would be more fuel economy friendly than the more powerful Mustang
GT.
The Ford Motor Company has been tight lipped on details for
the 2010 Mustang refresh, although spyshots (including some MustangForums
exclusive shots) have given us some things to discuss. Recently, Ford has begun
releasing teaser shots as the release date at the LA Auto Show draws near.
In typical FMC fashion, the shots are vague, blurring around
the edges to add to the drama, but they give us a clear idea of what to
expect. While the angular center area of
the dash pad is retained, the way it flows along the top of the gauge cluster
continues more towards the pillar before tapering down around the air vents,
which appear to be larger than the current vents. The center vents are no longer round, but
rather two tightly bunched rectangular vents, inset to the silver dash face
that runs the width of the dash.It
looks from the shots as though the vintage font and layout, a popular feature
of the S197 models, will make it through to the 2010 models.
Have a look at these MustangForums-exclusive shots of what is
more than likely the 2010 Mustang GT, first covered up (note the black
wheels in the second picture), then in its familiar camouflage.
While
there are no badges visible, the massive GT fog lights are clear, eventhough the hood cover and large bulge looks as though it might be
wearing an upgraded hood, similar to that found on the current GT500.
