What Do You Want to See at SEMA 2011?
by John Coyle
Halloween is almost here, and since I'm over costumes and candy, for me, that means only one thing--it's almost time for SEMA! I've been covering the show since 2006, and this year I'm more excited than ever to hop on the plane to Sin City!
Because this annual Vegas blowout is--by far--the craziest car show I've experienced. For five days, full-scale Hot Wheels, million-dollar exotics, historic hot rods, ridiculous restomods, and acres of performance parts transform the floor of the Las Vegas Convention Center into gearhead nirvana. And while the focus is on crazy customs, the major manufactures generally bring a few surprises of their own.
Last year, Vaughn Gittin Jr. debuted his wicked RTR-X, and the Blue Oval also displayed handiwork from Mobsteel, MRT, Creations n' Chrome, Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords, Raceskinz, Funkmaster Flex and Team Baurtwell, Street Scene Equipment and Tjin Edition. Of course, that's in addition its own trick Pony, which showcased some of the bits available from its in-house tuning arm.
The show is industry-only, so unless you're the shiftless writer type--like yours truly--or working for an aftermarket supplier, you're not getting through the door. But I'll be on the floor snapping pics and videos of all the cool Mustang-related stuff I see, so you won't miss much.
That said, if there's anything specific you'd like see, or have a question you'd like me to ask the Blue Oval, head over to the Forum and comment on this thread!
