When the GT500 was released, I was utterly amazed by its ability to surpass 200 MPH on the Nardo test track. Several years later, one particular 2013 GT500 is finding a new way to impress me.

Built by Evolution performance and driven by Brian “The IceMan” Devilbiss, this GT500 has been dubbed “The Devil’s Reject.”

Starting with a built 5.8-liter from L&M Engines, Evolution Performance mounted up a 76-mm Precision turbo running 24 pounds of boost. That’s good for a mind-blowing 2,000 horsepower!

Several other modifications had to be made to handle the incredible power the Devil’s Reject is producing. The stock transmission was swapped for a built TH400, and the slicks are mounted to double-beadlock Weld wheels.

Altogether, this is an ideal recipe for a seven-second car. It doesn’t just touch sevens, either — this thing goes deep. In the BigKleib34 video below, you can see it click off a best pass of 7.46 at 187 miles per hour!

With that much power on tap, this GT500 is a lot of fun to watch, especially when it’s digging in and hanging the front end in the air on almost every pass. Some people may think that drag racing looks easy, but it’s clear that Brian has some real skill when it comes to keeping this monster on the straight and narrow.
