This ’67 Mustang Is Black and Gold and Awesome All Over

There are a million nice classic Mustangs in the world, but this ’67 Fastback just trips all the right triggers for me.

First, it’s the looks. That menacing black paint with the golden copper stripes are perfection. And the choice of Muroc III wheels was truly inspired.

Under the hood is a tried and true combination of modern tech and classic muscle. The car was built using a fresh Windsor block, but aluminum heads and electronic fuel injection make sure it runs like a modern motor should. While the car has never seen a dyno, it’s estimated to be good for about 500 horsepower. Making sure all of that grunt hits the pavement, a T56 manual transmission, aluminum drive shaft, and Ford 9-inch rear are all part of the package.

The best part, and arguably why I love it so much, is that this is a car built to be driven. The same week the car was finished, owner Chad Chambers hopped in and drove from Long Beach straight to SEMA for the 2014 show. He also uses it to teach his friends a few lessons from light to light, as they roll around in more exotic German metal like M5s and AMG-badged machines.

It’s the right level of classic, with just a touch of modern and a whole pile of “hell yeah, let’s drive.” There’s a whole profile on her over at Hot Rod, with lot’s more pretty pictures, if you like.
