Do-it-yourself projects just don’t get much hotter than this one, whether we’re talking Mustangs or otherwise.

The 1967 custom Mustang, owned by Jeremy Bumpus of PowerNation TV’s Truck Tech series, is a shining example that you can pull off a lot more at that home garage than you think.

Showcased in MSN Auto’s Homebuilt series, every facet of this Mustang’s transformation into a showpiece took place in Bumpus’ garage — including the engine build, the bodywork, and that eye-catching paint job known as PPG Midnight Black.

The true beauty of this beast, however, is all the structural work put into bringing this ’67 Mustang, which was once owned by Bumpus’ mother, back to life. Far from your basic mod, Bumpus spared no expense in this recreation, which includes a Mustang II front end from Speedway Motors, new control arms, drop spindles, and 2,500-pound bags from RideTech, just to name a few of its features.

The 5.0-liter V8 under the hood, the heart and soul of Bumpus’ homebuilt project, was pulled from an ’89 Mustang with a T-5 five-speed with a Mach 350 Stage 1 clutch, which MSN says makes “decent power without being an undriveable animal.”
