There is no denying that in the pantheon of legendary Mustangs, the 1968 Shelby GT500 is one of the most beautiful, exciting, and sought after cars. The problem with an original Shelby is that is worth such a fortune, that it would be foolish to drive it with any real gusto. But what if you had a 100% documented Shelby GT500 body with a new drivetrain that was built to be hammered? Doesn’t that sound like a dream made in heaven?

One such car currently exists on the RK Motors Charlotte sales page. This ’68 GT500 has a new 428 Ford V8 that was built by Keith Craft Performance and it produces a dyno-verified 549 horsepower. Getting that power to the rear wheels is a Tremec TKO600 5-speed manual and a 9-inch Ford rear end. Brakes have been upgraded to discs in all four corners and the suspension has been modified as well. This car will run with the best of them. To make it even easier to live with, air conditioning and power steering have been added into the mix as well.

The car looks incredible in its black paint with that signature pair of white stripes running down the length, and the 17-inch alloy wheels are that perfect blend of classic style and modern function. The car even comes with a whole pile of documentation and paperwork.

If you need this car in your life, you can make it so for $125,000. Feel free to get a good look at the car thanks to this video from RK Motors and a few pretty pictures, as well (there are many more on the site). This car is so pretty that I just can’t stop staring.
