Sometimes a Good Driver and a Great Engine Are Really All You Need, as This Coyote-Powered Capri Capri Clearly Shows

The Ford Coyote 5.0 crate motor is a monster, capable of making just about anything with four wheels go fast. And when we say anything, we mean it. Mercury Capri, anyone?

All things considered, the Capri actually isn’t as dreary of a car as one may think. Between 1983 and 1986, the “bubble back” Capri was one of the fastest cars that Ford produced.

So what happens when you swap for a modern Coyote engine and add quite a bit more power? Well, what do you think happens? Oh, and this racing-inspired, Coyote 5.0-packing Capri also sports a Vortech supercharger. All told, she’s pumping out roughly 800 to 900 horsepower, according to the driver in the video above.

This Capri races in the 6-speed manual class, which makes the man driving the car that much cooler. Putting all the power to the ground without losing it is no easy task. But as the video demonstrates, he seems to be doing just fine. Check out the Capri take on a number of very-capable cars, and see just how much of a dominant drag racer this thing really is.
