“Craigslist Buyer” Roasts Online Car Sales

This Video Sums up Everything You Hate About Selling Cars Online

Sometimes a parody hits a little too close to home, with attention to detail and “inside baseball” references that could only be appreciated by those who’ve been there. It’s why touring musicians love This is Spinal Tap. And it’s why you’re going to love this “Craigslist Buyer” video from the CarBros. Just be sure to remember to laugh, so you don’t cry.

CarBros are clearly no strangers to the Craigslist project-car game. So they decided to get clever with their 5.0 Mustang. They start their video off with a demonstration, which appears to be mandatory training for every person who has ever called about a car being sold online.

It’s all there. From failing to read the ad (“What color is the car?” and “How many miles are on it?”) to asking for directions (“No, I don’t have a smartphone.”) The video even attempts to explain where all of those ridiculous low-ball offers come from.

After agreeing to meet the seller, our protagonist “Jack Diamond” stakes out the meeting location to make sure that “this guy isn’t gonna waste his time.” He accomplishes this by… wasting the seller’s time, and not actually meeting him. He instead waits for a phone call from the confused seller, and sets up another time to hopefully seal the deal.

After another meeting — one that includes a quite literal explanation of “tire kicking” — a deal is struck. Jack gets his new project car, a clean, white Fox Body on Bullitt wheels. We can’t wait to see what the CarBros have in store next for the car, but one thing’s for sure: after watching this video, we never want to have to sell any of our cars ever again!
