SEMA is going to be another wild one this year for Mustang fans. The stakes keep getting higher, and the horsepower levels are getting propped up with them. These days, it seems like anything short of 600 horses doesn’t even make people think twice. Well, The RoadsterShop has you covered on that front, with this nasty Mustang they’re calling “Vapor.” It’s got a Coyote crate engine with an Edelbrock “E-Force” supercharger tacked on top. With a 9.5:1 compression ratio, this engine still runs on 91 octane pump gas, and produces a heart-skipping 785 horsepower and Sisyphussian levels of torque at 660 lb-ft. This would be a wild drive no matter who you are.

While this kind of power would be impressive in a modern Mustang, slamming all of that muscle under the hood of a 1965 Fastback is just bonkers. This car has supercar-destroying power levels matched with a lightweight body for what will truly be a mind-blowing power-to-weight ratio. A representative of Edelbrock was so impressed with the finished result that he described it as being “possibly the finest ’65 Mustang build we have ever seen.” Seems like high praise to me.

If you’re going to be in Las Vegas for SEMA this week, then you can be the judge of that yourself, as “Vapor” will be on display in the Eaton booth (#229430).
