2011 Mustang Engine options to be announced!!!

la auto show.jpgSince the 2010 Mustang hit the streets, the Mustang community has been demanding more power and bigger engines.  Other than a few subtle hints during interviews, Ford has been pretty hush-hush about what engines would be introduced for 2011 to hopefully close the gap between the Mustang and the cross town rivals from GM and Dodge.  In what could be the first non-propaganda fed discussion in ages, Fox News reported that during a meeting with Ford's chief of global development, Derrick Kuzak, was quoted as saying that all of the questions about the Mustang's 2011 engine options will be answered in December at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

2009 SEMA Preview: The 2010 Steeda Q Series Mustang

steeda 1.jpgThe folks at Steeda showed off the first edition of their take on the 2010 Ford Mustang in July with the debut of the Steeda Sport Edition Mustang.  That model featured underdrive pullies, a short throw shifter, a "performance air cleaner", sport springs, and a variety of dress up items to help it stand out from the factory produced 2010 Mustangs.  The upgrades, with an MSRP of $6,995, give someone just a glimpse of what Steeda has developed with their racing program for the last twenty years, and all of that experience has been combined to create the new 2010 Steeda Q Series Mustang.

These images are the only current looks at the Q Series Mustang, and the only real information that has been given is the release date; November 3, 2010 at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas.  I will be there to bring you a good look at the 2010 Steeda Q Series, including pictures and full specifications, but for the time being Steeda is only teasing us - leaving us to speculate what to expect from the Q Series.
The Formula Drift Series kicked off the 2009 season with a bang on the sunny streets of Long Beach. As a prelude to the Long Beach Grand Prix, Formula Drift has held their season opener on this historic California street circuit for the past three years. Although the sport of drifting is more commonly associated with Japanese sport compacts, the Ford Mustang is no stranger to the series. Four blue oval representatives entered qualifying with two reaching the top 8, including one brand new 2010 Ford Mustang GT. With such a strong showing, Mustang drivers definitely made their presence known this past weekend.

FR500S Mustang Gets Big TV Attention

miller cup badge.JPGStarting on December 7, 2008 at 8pm EST, Discovery HD will air its special about the Mustang Challenger for the Miller Cup.  From the description from MillerCup.com, the show, titled Why We Race: The Mustang Challenge, sounds like it will play out like a reality game show with the drama of the races combined with off-track challengers.

Every FR500S for the series was prepared in the exact same fashion, so it comes down to team planning and pure driving ability, and those drivers range from rookies drivers to established road racers, and the support teams vary as well, from small family run teams to large multi-car teams with a large financial backing.

SEMA Review: Roush P-51B Mustang

p51b mustang.JPGThe 2008 SEMA Show brought the world Roush's second installation of the P-51B Mustang. This car intended to pay homage to the famous vintage plane, and like that often-victorious fighter, the new Roush will make a worthy adversary for the best Japan and Germany has to offer in the modern horsepower war.

The Look of a Fighter
Roush wanted their P-51B to have more than just power, and the name of the fighter plane, so the 2009 P-51B will come in Ford's Vapor paint with Olive Drab Green accents in the form of the thick center stripe and the prominent 510HP hood badging.  However, to recognize the fact that fighters in World War II were often pieced together on the fly with whatever metals were available, the Roush body kit will come painted in both Ford's Vapor and a Deep Silver paint (it sounds odd, but its very subtle).  The grille and tail light panel are both flat black, and the sides of the car wears the yellow and orange seal of the 357th Fighters Group of the Eighth Air Force, who in WWII was credited as being the one of the most successful fighting groups of the war.
