By Justin Banner   DISCLAIMER: Drifting, as with any motorsport, is dangerous and the techniques in these articles are to be done on a closed course. DO NOT DRIFT ON THE STREET!   You road racers will recognize this one as it's something you're trained to avoid as you learn heel-toe shifting in road race or autocross school. The "shift-lock" is actually wheel-hopping on purpose and you'll start to downshift as you go

By Justin Banner   Your first time drifting will be a very strange experience, especially if you've been doing road racing or autocross. Think about it, you're flinging a car sideways on purpose for the entire course and you're not battling for fastest time or getting to the line first. It's all an art in oversteer. While that makes drifting rather different from road racing, your car setup will actually not be far

-- By Justin Banner   If there is one thing you should never do, it is going drifting on the street. It's dangerous, stupid, and there are places that let you drift and many of them are race tracks all along the U.S. borders and in between. Here is a list of drifting sanctioning bodies and spots on the East Coast. Honestly, there is no excuse to go drifting illegally since there are

By Detroit Steel   It certainly will be hard to miss this one at SEMA, which kicks off Nov. 4.   The Vortech supercharged Mustang GT is painted in a color called "Competition Orange", which is about as eye-catching as colors come on cars. Additional exterior features include a carbon fiber front lip, the aforementioned 20-inch wheels, a coilover suspension and a Magnaflow exhaust.   But like most Mustangs at SEMA, it's underneath the

Remember that Canadian woman who was on the verge of getting stuck with a $47,000 bill for a rented Mustang? Well, it looks like Enterprise Rent-A-Car has had a change of heart after first sending her a bill for the car. Kristen Cockerill apparently got a call from an Enterprise rental manager in Nova Scotia a few weeks ago apologizing for the experience, according to Canadian Yahoo news report. "It's been extremely stressful, actually,

by John Coyle Corvette ForumGenerally, my favorite thing about a big unveiling is that it sucks most of the press folks into one area of the show, which makes it easier to get photos of cars that would otherwise be mobbed. That's not to say that I don't enjoy them--the Genesis Coupe reveal in New York a couple years back was awesome--and the theatrical aspect can be entertaining. This year, I actually felt a little

by John Coyle Mustang ForumsWhen people asked me how the LA Auto Show was this year, I generally tell them it's about 98 percent boring and two percent "oh-my-God-I'd-murder-someone-to-own-that." And that's how most consumer auto shows are, because while there's some razzle dazzle stuff on the floor, the vehicles that keep the lights on for automakers aren't anything all that inspirational. But concept cars--like the electric BMW i8 above--are the definition of razzle dazzle,
