After posting its highest numbers in nearly four years in May, the Ford Mustang continued its momentum by maintaining five figure retail sales in the month of June. Today Ford announced that customers purchased 10,263 Mustangs off of dealers’ lots last month, just shy of the 10,427 in May and a 16.2% increase compared to June of 2011 (8,835 sales). The number also exceeded Chevrolet Camaro sales for the month by more than a thousand units (9,123 sold). Overall Mustang sales are up 24.5% year-to-date, 48,624 vs 39,041.

The increase in Mustang sales is only a part of a strong month for Ford, which posted an overall seven percent gain compared to June of 2011. The Escape set an all time record with 28,500 units sold, an increase of 28% versus last year, Explorer sales were up 35% and the Fusion posted a 17% gain.
