Ford Performance Pumps Up Ecoboost Mustang

Do you want to add a little more giddy-up to your turbo pony? Ford Performance has a new power kit for Ecoboost-powered Mustangs that bumps horsepower by 25 and torque by a whopping 70 pound-feet. This kit isn’t really all that complex, either, as it features a simple cold-air intake and a factory-warranted flash tune. The tune isn’t just worth horsepower, either, as Ford Performance says the flash will also improve throttle response with a “performance feel” and an optimized shift schedule for automatic transmission cars as well.

This kit is for all North American spec 2015-2017 Ecoboost Mustangs, is certified 50 state legal, and even retains your warranty when installed by an Authorized Ford Dealer. This, to me, seems too good to be true. The kit comes in at just $699.00 (Though I’ve already seen the kit on various online sellers’ websites for up to 100 dollars less), and pumps your Ecoboost up to 335 hp and 390 lb-ft.

While those numbers aren’t quite enough to embarrass a GT on their own, it’s worth considering that the ecoboost is a good bit lighter than the full-boat Mustang GT, so when you add in the Ford Performance handling kit, you would probably have a better corner carver than the GT. I really liked the Ecoboost last time I drove one, and with this performance bump, I might like it even better. What do you think? Is the Ecoboost now a worthy adversary to the GT, or will you be sticking with V8 goodness?
