2013 Boss 302 Colors and Other Rumors Leaked
by Patrick Rall
Ford Motor Company hasn't offered up any official information thus far on the 2013 Ford Mustang Boss 302, but thanks to a special on SpeedTV about the 2012 Boss 302, we have an idea as to what could be coming for the 2013 model year. During the program, there were shots showing a poster that looked to offer the various color choices and wheel options for the 2013 Mustang Boss 302. This poster also shows a clear definition between the full color spread and two other Boss 302 models in black and white - presumably the 2013 Boss 302 Laguna Seca.
While we do not know if this is the full complement of colors for the 2013 model year, the Ford poster shown on SpeedTV shows what looks to be four color choices, including Race Red, Grabber Blue (a personal favorite of mine), Performance White and Yellow Blaze Metallic Tri-Coat.
Along the bottom of the poster, seemingly separated from the first four cars atop the poster are what we expect to be the 2013 Boss 302 Laguna Seca, wearing a black scheme with white stripes and a white finish with black stripes. For the 2012 model year, the high performance Boss 302 Laguna Seca was offered in either black or ingot silver, both of which came with red stripes. And while it's tough to tell from the screenshot stills, it looks like the 2013 Boss 302 Laguna Seca may come with white wheels rather than the red rims found on the 2012 models.
Also on that poster, along the side, is an open hood shot of a Boss 302 wearing a metallic green paint code, expected to be called either "Gotta Have It Green" or "Grabber Green". Regardless of what color name Ford goes with, this doesn't come as a huge surprise as Dodge has introduced the Green with Envy limited edition paint code and Chevrolet has introduced the Synergy Green Camaro paint code.
Next, the poster and some other shots across the hood of what looks to be the 2013 Mustang Boss 302 show a new stripe pattern reminiscent of what was worn by the original Boss 302 Mustang in 1970. This stripe begins on the hood, branching off from a thick center stripe before running down across the fenders to the lower rocker area before heading off to the rear of the car. Amidst this long stripe is the Boss 302 logo high on the front fenders - also similar to what the world saw in the '70 Boss lineup. In addition to showing this "new" stripe package for the 2013 Boss 302, the shot across the hood of the new Boss supported the introduction of the new green color, and based on the 1970 stripe design, this could give credence to Grabber Green being the name chosen by Ford.
Finally, leaked dealership documents suggest that the 2013 Boss 302 will come with Ford's Sync system with a large touchscreen in the dash and a 4.2" information screen in the gauge cluster. This means that it will have a higher end stereo system and we also expect to see HID headlights for the 2013 Boss - but we're not sure if those will be standard or optional.
