Here’s a tip: if you’re going to steal a Mustang Boss from a dealership, which we would strongly urge against, don’t get too crazy and blow the engine while joyriding.

Seems simple enough, right?

Well, apparently not, which would explain how a guy in Minnesota has found himself facing up to 10 years in prison.

The entire ordeal started when Simon Michael Schmitz snatched the keys at the dealership and stole the 2012 Mustang. But not before revving the engine a few times to give employees a little show of power, according to Northfield News.

However, it appears the fun was cut short when Schmitz blew the Mustang’s engine. Police received a call of a man fleeing a vehicle stalled on the road with the hood up. The police later caught up with Schmitz after a passing motorist spotted him walking through a field. When a deputy asked him about the Mustang, he responded, “I just took the car for a test drive.”

Classic, right?
