Steals GT350 Wheels

Imagine you are the owner of a brand new Ford Mustang Shelby GT350. It’s a lovely Spring day in Atlanta, Georgia, and you’ve just parked your beloved GT350 in your driveway after a tiresome day. That night, you dream of the bellowing sounds of the flat-plane crank V-8 as you seamlessly shift the Tremec 6-speed manual gearbox, while the lush greenery of the South whips by in a blur past your windows.

The next morning, you wake up and excitedly head outside to your newest and truest love only to find her sitting on rocks – wheelless. Some savage has stolen your new Shelby’s shoes and left her crippled on the cold, hard pavement.

This makes me sick to my stomach. One of my club members got his wheels stolen off of his GT350 at some point last night. They left his car on rocks even! 😠 These people better sell these wheels out of state since we have 400 members in @atlantas550s now. And the bend under the drivers door is painful to look at. Feel free to share and let me know if anyone is like “hey, I got some factory GT350 wheels on the low low.🕵🕵🕵” I’ll let the owner know. ________ #shelbygt350 #shelby #gt350 #wheels #gt350r #stillbeast #stolen #stolenwheels #thief #scum

This is what recently happened to a poor soul, whose identity is being kept secret at this time. Fortunately for him, the enthusiast car community can be a diligent and fastidious one. Eager to help, members from a Mustang car club in Atlanta had their eyes peeled as they scoured the internet for GT350 wheels for sale on the cheap. It wasn’t long before a set was found for sale on eBAY. Instagram user “jjfordjr” communicated with the victim, helping lead him, and police to the stolen wheels.

Stay tuned for more info on the sting operation. This is an awesome feeling right now. Shout out to the few of you all who DM’d us and helped out! @5oh_pyro messaged me first with the info, appreciate it brother!! Feel free to share this win for the car community. ________ #justicemotherfucker #stolenwheels #stolen #shelbygt350 #shelby #thief #scum #gt350 #gt350r #atlantas550s

According to a post on Reddit, the victim immediately knew the wheels were his as he noticed a bit of familiar rash on a rim in one of the photos. Springing into action, a group from Atlanta S550s convinced the seller to meet in person. When they arrived at the seller’s house, the group had the police with them. No arrests were made at that time, unfortunately, even though the seller also had a set of Honda Accord wheels as well, which were reportedly stolen from the same neighborhood.

***Here’s a public service announcement*** If you or anyone you know ever have their wheels stolen, and you also happen to have TPMS sensors installed in them, this is one of the only ways to prove without a doubt that they are yours. The TPMS sensors will scan to the specific vehicle they were on. At this point, you will be able to detain and arrest the thief (with your local authorities assistance). Lock him up. Take down his counterparts. And win. You will win. And it is an awesome feeling. Update: The owner has the wheels returned to him, the car will be ok, but it will need the rotors replaced and the side effects as well, where the rocks were propping the car up 😠 Overall though, this was a happy ending and I truly thank you all for the support and outcry that you all showed! I’m thinking about buying everyone some of those gold plastic police badges in celebration. _______ #solvingcrimes #detective #stolenwheels #gt350 #gt350r #tpms #thief #shelbygt350

“jjfordjr”, now communicating via his Instagram, showed how the victim was able to confirm the wheels were in fact the ones they were looking for. It turns out that if the TPMS sensors are kept intact, they contain information that can be matched with info in the car’s computer by using a diagnostic tool.

We’re currently unclear if any arrests have been made, and we can only assume a full investigation has been launched against this alleged thief. But even though we cannot currently rally behind the thought of a deserving person behind bars, we can cheer for the recovery of these rare and expensive wheels. A big thank you to the Mustang community for banding together – you can all give yourselves a hearty pat on the back!
