Street Racer Class Fox Body Cleans Up Competition

What’s the best way to make a turbo LSX engine go quickly down the strip? Throw it in a Fox Body, of course! Okay, this marriage of engine and body is not all that uncommon, but the way this turbo V8 Mustang cleans up the competition is beyond impressive.

This racing is a bit shorter than usual, as we are dealing with 1/8th-mile times at Nashville’s Streetcar Takeover. Going up against a Trans-Am, a Vette, and also just a good ‘ol race against the clock, this bad boy delivers consistent 5.3s. His fastest pass comes at the end of the video against the Vette, which is far from being a close race.

So what makes it tick? A single 80mm turbo that fills the lungs of that 6.0 LS motor. And the Chevy roots don’t stop there; all of that power is put through the wheels by another drag racing favorite: the Powerglide transmission. The irony of this video? Every car featured was powered by an LS, and yet it was the Mustang that made the most use of that motor.
