Sweet, Merciful God, What Is this Abomination of a Mustang?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, right? Or at least that’s how the old saying goes. But maybe in this instance we should use, “Never judge a book by its cover”? Or maybe we should just burn it with fire. Frankly, I’m in the latter court, because according to the seller, this is a “rare” unfinished “one off” project that needs repair. But what, exactly, is it? Well, it’s actually a Volvo S70R with a Shelby Mustang bodykit. Yeah, you read that right.

According to the eBay seller:

“This auction is for this one off custom made car with a Shelby Mustang front end and custom styling on the sides and rear, professionally styled by hand costing thousands of pounds. The car is based on a Volvo S70R body so has the sought after 2.3 engine too with front gas suspension added at great cost to raise or lower the car for different situations. Only one previous owner with some Service history documents by Volvo, previous MOTs and documents to show the work and some of the costs involved in making this car look how it does including bills for over £3000 and £7000 for parts and labour including parts such as a Shelby GT 500 front bumper for £704 , Grills for over £500 , Headlamps , bonnet, boot , side skirts wings …..and the list goes on. The 18″ Wolfrace shadow chrome mantis wheels alone cost £800 as shown in the paperwork. The current owner has spent this and much much more. Selling on behalf of a friend, the current owner has owned it since 2000 as shown in the log book. The car has all the extras an s70R would have such as Electric suede and leather seats, sunroof and so on plus being a Volvo you have all the usual safety features. After many hours of work and money spent , the car was never completed and needs somebody looking for a great project to finish her off. She needs a lot of fitting and electrical work such as looms to lights etc. The wheels move freely and tyres obviously have never been on the road so will need to be put on a trailer but can be moved on to it easily. As the car has been sitting outside unfinished it does have some cracking where the kit has been fitted around the car. The car will fire with fuel being sprayed down the air intake but will stop soon after so the fuel side of the engine will need looking at. The bodyshop has put lots of quality effort into making this cars style a one off so you wont find another one like it anywhere in the world. Some nice touches have been added such as the downward fall petrol flap and the scoops that flow through the rear door on to the inner rear wheels cooling the brake calipers plus the moulded rear boot spoiler. Any of the car can be finished to your own personal taste with all the major work completed. She is just begging for someone to finish her and put her back on the road!! So if you want a car that will turn heads which is cheap to run and insure plus has all the Volvo safety features then please put in your maximum bid and it could be yours.”

Honestly, do you really want to spend any money on this? Thankfully, it’s currently in the U.K., where it sold for £1,019.oo.

But even if you could purchase this thing, should you? Maybe if you were just going to buy it to put the car out of its misery, it would be worth it. But as is? I don’t know about that.
What do you all think of this “rare” “one off” car? Can we all just agree to burn it with fire?
