At SEMA next week, the Blue Oval will be showing off it’s new TracKey system, which allows drivers to flip between a street-friendly tune, and a no-hold-barred performance setting. In the simplest possible terms, it’s basically a “sport mode” on steroids, and also provides access to Pony’s “Easter Egg” launch control feature.

Unfortunately, TracKey will also come with some baggage, not the least of which is that installation of the trick technology will cut the Boss’ powertain warranty from the 5-year or 60,000 miles to a considerably stingier 3 years or 36,000 miles.

In addition, if buyers choose to add an aftermarket cam or intake will see their warranties voided, which will probably give more than a few fans the willies about messing around with Ford’s handiwork. We’ll get all the details when we’re at SEMA next week, so stay tuned…

What do you think about Ford modifying the Boss’ warranty? Does it seem fair like play? Or a way to dodge claims from cars certain to be flogged? Sound off in the Forum!
