Turbo Mustang GT Squares Off Against GT-R

How well can good old-fashioned American Iron go up against the import favorite Nissan GT-R? Both seen here are turbocharged, the Nissan with all-wheel drive and the Mustang with rear-wheel drive, but very sticky tires. Both are automatic, and well prepared for this sort of duty. The way to find out which one is better is discovered via a street race. The result? Well, we should have seen this coming… A cold night with an unprepared surface is not the most ideal conditions for a head-up race on the street, and it didn’t go the way of the Mustang.

Surface prep is a big equalizer in terms of acceleration, and at the track, where the Mustang would hook up, the race would be much closer. “Racer’s excuses,” you might say, but then again, AWD gives advantage on the street, and a better surface gives the advantage to tires specific for drag racing.

Alright, enough of the excuses. How about we find a turbo Mustang that’s got the legs on a GT-R in a street race? I know within our forums there’s got to be a bruiser of a Mustang out there who’s raced a GT-R and won.
