The Mustang is off to a roaring start in the U.K., and it appears that most buyers are opting for the V8 model over the V6 and the turbo charged four-banger.

Of the initial 2,000 Mustang orders in the U.K., 70 percent were for the 5.0-liter V8 model, according to a Car and Driver report. In addition, 55 percent of the U.K. buyers are choosing the six-speed manual.

This news must come as a bit of a surprise to many, considering the European market was a significant factor for building the four-banger model. But even with gas at a whopping $7 a gallon in the U.K., it’s the power of the V8 that Brits are craving most in a Mustang.

By comparison, 52 percent of new Mustang buyers in the U.S. have opted for the V8 model. The remaining 48 percent has been pretty much split between the V6 and EcoBoost models.
