Ford Says Mustang Won’t Drop V8

Ford Mustang Coyote V8

We recently highlighted a much-discussed report that Ford was seriously considering dropping the V8 platform from all of its vehicles, including the Mustang.

That got many of us in a rather sad state, and it apparently caused Ford some heartburn, too, because almost immediately after everyone started running with the story, Ford denied its veracity.

Carscoops spoke with Ford Global Powertrain Technology Communications Manager, Paul Seredynski, who stated that the “V8 still plays an important role in our product lineup, having just launched the new 5.0L V8 in the 2015 Mustang, and the 5.2L FPC in the GT350 and GT350R.”

While Seredynski didn’t go on record about the specific future of the V8, it’s safe to say the Mustang’s foreseeable future will indeed include a V8. You may sleep peacefully now.
