Default fuel pressure on stock 5.0?

I'm going to be installing a new fuel pump/regulator on my '89 GT and i would be much appreciative if anybody could give me any suggestions on fuel pressure

the regulator i'm installing is an adjustable 35-90 PSI and i don't know what the car should be running stock, so if anybody knows that it would be a start, i'm also wondering if there is much play in the setting and what i could go to comfortably without changing injectors for now.

I'm anxiously awaiting edelbrock's completion and release of their pro-tuner EFI system (#3671)that was due out in spring of 05 but for now, as my fuel pump has taken a **** on itself, i'll start with a pump (edelbrock #17932)and regulator (#1729)

just for those who are curious my future plans to match this start include an edelbrock intake #2945, throttle body #3826, egr plate #3829, undecided cam - not too racey for the street but something that can be worked up to some competition at the drag strip, heads haven't been decided on either but im currently leaning toward edelbrock if not for anything but a matching top end

As for the bottom end, i'll send the car on down to Race Engineering for a wonderful couple weeks of valvetrain work and gutting replacing polishing porting boring and balancing, and to have any upper end work that i can't do such as installing my intake (which needs to be polished to fit as it is shipped raw)

i'm not looking to have the fastest thing at the drag strip, just the fastest streetable thing. The reason i'll be able to use the setup i'm going with on the street will be thanks to the pro-tuner package which should allow me to work all the wild stuff out of my motor enough to tame it on the streets, yet be able to tune quickly up to a much more raw-performance oriented set of parameters for a visit to the strip

When it's all said and done my '89 mustang should be able to shove her heavy *** easily into the low 12's completely N/A.

Interesting. I always thought they'd be lean for emissions during that era...

well every car is different. but i tuned my fuel pressure and timing on a dynojet dyno. n/a tune ended up being 17* timing and 32-34 psi fuel there was no real change in the two. so i stayed 34psi
here is the final run

yup, rsw007 is right on the money.

you want to run as lean as possible to make the most power. (too lean is very bad, too phat just slows you down a bit though)
thats why most people don't go so lean. the tradeoff is worth not risking it.

and stock 5.0's run way phat. guys take a stock motor and add an intake , 24 lb inj, and a 255 pump and can't figure out why they are slower.

34-35 would probably be perfect, i have always been under the impression stock is 36 psi.
