Default What does a clutch cost to replace?

I have some clutch chatter under my new 93. Not bad but just wondering if I bought a centerforce clutch or so how much labor should cost for this?

I just went through a simular situation and got raped. Unless you REALLY know the mechanic, make sure you buy the parts! Clutch, Pressure Plate and Throw-out Bearing. Since it's 13 years old, I'd buy a new clutch fork (30 some bucks), and a new clutch cable, just to be safe. Have them all installed at the same time. Might save you some hassle.

I got ripped for $450.00. Took the car in because it was hard to push pedal in. 1st off they told me my clutch was bad (I told them to replace it). Then during assembly, I was told my clutch fork was bent (told them to replace it).

All and all...450.00 for what PROBABLY was just a bent clutch fork! (car grabbed fine before and after the work, it was just hard to release the clutch).

Beware...

I paid 175.00 for the clutch kit (I could have had a Cobra Clutch kit for the same price)
I paid 60.00 for a clutch fork (way too much)
I paid an H*LL of a lot of labor for a clutch change! (I would have done it myself in 1.5hrs if I had a lift!!!!!)

Be careful!... ;-)

If you have a jack anf dour stands do it yourself. I recently put one in our 93 and it was a snap. I used a spec clutch and flywheel.

all you need is jackstands and a hydraulic jack. I put mine back in (rebuild--FW, clutch, & tranny) by myself a ~2 hours. having a friend would help you. Also get a haynes or chilton, or both to help guide you thru it.

Like you said, w/ a friend's help....I was doing mine while everybody was at work, so a jack was the only option.
