do any of you guys know these specs?i.e the horsepower figures, does either have a 6 speed. Can you switch in a cobra 6 speed. Can you put 4v heads on these cars?sorry if I sound stupid I am new to this forum. I am looking to buy a 96 and up gt or cobra.

I believe the 96-97 GT's come with 215hp and the 98's come with 225hp. The 96-98 Cobras have I believe 305hp, but I could be wrong on that and the Cobra already comes with a 4v. They both come in 5spd, but the GT comes in auto as well. The 03/04 Cobras are the only Cobras with a 6spd. Theres a few different types of Stangs to buy if your lookin from 96 and up, try and be more specific. If you really do mean any Stang from 96+, than the 03/04 Cobra is your choice.

If you have the money, completely skip the 96-98 GT idea and if you can, try to avoid a 99-04 GT and get any DOHC Cobra or Mach 1. Better bang for your buck.

Trust me, if I wouldnt have been in such a rush to get my Stang, and if I would have waited until this summer instead of last summer to get one, I could easily afford a Cobra or Mach 1 and have money for mods. I could afford one now, but I'm trying to pay off my debts within the next 6-8 months, that away once tax time comes around, I will be getting some mods for the GT. I was in such a rush to own a Stang, that last year I traded in my Olds Alero and I still owed about $9500 and it was only worth $3500, so yeah I got screwed, but whatever I'm happy with my GT, but much rather have a Cobra or Mach 1.
