Default gatorback belt

i just swapped out the stock drive belt on my 02 V6. i put a goodyear gatorback belt on and now i notice a whine as the rpms rise and fall. i've read these belts can do this, anyone else have this problem? should i consider replacing the belt or is the whine relatively normal?

did you have a gatorback belt?!?!?! Cause im pretty sure that if you buy a gatorback belt your buying it case it gives you a whinning noise.....

Edit: that and it reduced slippage cause it has so many teeth but most people buy it for the whinning noise.

no i just had the motorcraft belt on it, i got the gatorback because that's what checker auto parts had, and i wasnt' going to buy anything from autozone. if the whining is normal then that's cool i can handle it, i was just curious if that was normal.

thanks for the replies

Yes, I had the gatorback belt, and no whine for me, don't know what the GT has, but it doesn't whine either. Oh it has U/D pulleys, I'm just replacing them.
