Hi, just joined mustangforums today. Thanks for posting this. I'm interested in a 2003 S281SC Hollywood Edition coupe. Don't care about the H.E. thing, but this car is gorgeous. I believe it's a real Saleen, but just want to make sure before I decide to buy it. :-)

Here's what I have:

VIN - 1FAFP42X33F345277
ID# - 03-0270 (270 is on bumper)
MFG date - 04/03

Not sure what console number you mean? I ckecked the VIN and it's an '03 for sure. :-) It has been repainted. There were some cracks in the hood paint near the vents, so Saleen replaced the hood and repainted it, but then it didn't match the fenders, so then they repainted the fenders and those didn't match the doors, so the entire car was repainted, under warranty.

Nada says it's worth $31k something. The seller is willing to bargain a little. He's offering it for $29k as it is. I was thinking of offering him $28k. What do you think? It's the most beautiful red I've ever seen!!! He said Saleen's paint was much better than Ford's. I haven't seen the car in person, but I'm trying to get somebody in the Orange County California area to go and look at the car for me. Any takers??? LOL I'm in Sweden until Sept 6th.

Or maybe I should just scrap it and buy an '04 Cobra? ;-)

Ok, since its been asked alot lately - maybe our mod can make this a sticky

Are you looking at a Saleen, or even own one and not sure if its the real deal [&:] If it is a 1985 - 2003 its very simple. Post the VIN as well as the bumper/firewall/console ID number (these should ALL exist and match as your first hint). Also tell us if its hatch, coupe, or convertable.

If its a 1984, forget about it. There were only 3 made in '84 and same guy owns all 3 of them here in Indy. If its a 2004-6 then you'll have to call Liz Summar at Team Saleen as the book was published after the '03 model year.
