Default Complete 427 Cobra Jet Engine for $2,500!!!

My boss just called and woke me up saying a guy is selling a 427 out of his mustang that only has 8,000 miles on it.
It's a complete engine and he's asking only $2,500!!

I think I'm about to say **** the 302 !! and go with this badass engine.

Just a couple questions tho
[ul][*] Am I going to need to do any Fab. work to get this badass engine in my car?[*] What kind of tranny am I going to need for this thing to hold up? [*] I just ordered a Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch kit, Is this thing universal and can bolt up to any tranny. Or just for my T5?[*] What are these engines putting out stock, HP/Torque wise?[*] What can these blocks handle HP/Torque wise?[*] I know I'll need a thicker exhaust, but how big? 3.5"?[*] Will my headers bolt up to this beast?[*] Should I go for it and scrap all thats been done to my 302?[*] How much would a 302 go for with all my mods done to it? (Mileage around 110k)
[/ul]

Ouf thanks guys
If I buy this engine... HELLO TORQUE!

your front suspension is gonna handle really bad because of all the excess wait its meant or use to having. You'll need a new oil pan for the 427 that will go onto the fox k member. I think they make them? because they make mounts and oil pans for the 460. You are going to need a Tremec TKO tranny. Your stock T-5 will not handle that much power. I think you can use the Centerforce on the Tremec. Factory says that they made 390 HP but doesnt say how much torque. That is probably very underated for a big block. 3.5" dude thats huge go with a 3" exhaust. Headers you'll need a new set thats meant for the 427 but will work on a fox (might need someone to bend 427 headers). And the last 2 is alll your opinion its gonna cost you more than 2500 because you are going to need more parts to make it work in your fox.

Well, new front suspension springs, motor mounts, headers, exhaust, tranny, oil pan
and it should work right?

That's prolly around $3,000 more just for the motor to go in my car?
Guessing the TKO costs 2k?
Or they go for 3k?
dunno
so lets say 3-4k more for that engine to work in my car.

I don't know of any conversion kits for a 427 in a fox, you gotta think about k-member, motor mounts, headers, oil pan, etc. It will probably cost another $2k in parts to get it going + the cost of another tranny. Its much simpler to just build a 460 and drop in it, and you'll likely have more power for cheaper. Don't get me wrong, it would be cool as hell to have a CJ in there, but it is cheaper and easier to go another route - and an automatic tranny would pretty much be a MUST if you go with anything bigger than a 351w.

with the kinda power your looking at you might want to put some C-clip emlimator axels on your stang's rear end

Yes it should work, your gonna need carb linkages too, but that stuff doesnt cost that much like 150 dollars for all them from Lokar's.

a 427 block is the same as a 429 right?

because I know a kit for that swaps in a 429/460 engine into a fox.

that would be so sweet, but pricey. maybe you should buy the engine now and just save up for a while to put it in. what i want to do is stroke and bore a 351W to 427. that is because i dont want the weight of a bbf, but i want big block displacement. so ya, that would be sooo cool to do, but it will be pricey.

If I were you (but I'm not and to each their own), I'd drop a 351w in there and re-use all your EFI stuff, the cost will be MINIMAL compared to a 427 swap - and best of all no one (unless they know what their looking for) could tell the difference.
