Start thinking bout what you don't need on the car and start removing what you don't need.
It's all about thinking.
Is there some place where you can use one smaller bolt instead of two bolts?
is there a way to use 2 parts to do the same thing?
Do a search and get some aaanswers............

There are a lot of things you can do to reduce weight, some cost a lot though...

Remove rear seats and sound deadener on floorpan
Alum. driveshaft
Tubular K member and A arms
Alum. heads
Fiberglass hood
Fiberglass fenders

There's lots more, but I can't think right now.

EDIT: Although it will add weight, U/L control arms and subframes will help your control and launch a LOT.

BTW, I just looked at some base curb weights on Edmunds....

90LX Notch=2760
90GT Hatch=2847
95GT=3280

None of those are verts and are w/o liquids (gas, coolant, oil, washer fluid, etc)

No, just remove all of your fluids and strip your interior, doors, trunk, and windows.
