Well I did it! Got rid of those huge stock mufflers and replaced them with straight pipes at Exhaust Pro in Van Nuys, CA by Vic. He did an excellent job and put on new chrome tips. The idea is that if I think it's too loud, we would replace the resonator with a Magnaflow muffler. But so far, it doesn't seem too loud for me. If you feather the throttle or just run at part throttle it's not loud at all. Only at full throttle. No drone on the freeway. I'll live with it for a couple of weeks and see if I want the Magnaflow installed or not. So far I'm happy with the sound. It's still very quiet on the freeway at 65 to 80 mph.

How about attaching M80 from pypes instead of using stock mufflers. OR take the res off and put 2 m80 after that and have open exhaust after that but put a RES Tip.
