Thanks...I bought one today for my Garmin. I have never liked the Garmin on the windshield,as it's in view of to many would be thieves.

I'd like to have my IPod out of the console box, but the 1/8in RCA jack is in there.

I'm wondering how you attach your Garmin to that flat plate. My Nuvi 1490 has a ball-joint for the windshield suction-cup but nothing that can be used to attach to that flat plate.

Look at this

Then this mount attaches to the above mount:

If the main plate had a smooth finish [note that it appears to have a "leather grain" look to it] then the suction cup would work that is used on your windshield. So now you need that ball mount. I suspect that the material used [leather grain look] is on purpose so that you have to spend another $30 for the ball mount.

Thanks for the info but talk about over-priced. I think I'll just stick it to the windshield with the regular suctioncup that came with the Garmin till I find one thats reasonably priced.

you need the IUP package for this to work. You need to have the leather inserts on your doors to wedge this stuff into.

I have blue ones and they never get dirty. What is the outside color of your car?

You may want to try silver since you do have silver stripes. One thing is for sure, if you do not like them, you can paint them what ever color. I had to do that with mine because at the time they did not have them in Vista Blue. I've had mine on since 2007 with no issues.
