Unhappy Stripe Decals Gone BAD

I have a 2006 Mustang GT with the stripe decals covering fore to aft over the car. However, due to the hot South Texas weather, these stripes have cracked and discolored so bad that my wife, who is not that thrilled with my Mustang fetish, wants them removed. I have to admit that I want them off as well. Does anyone know of a decal remover than can be applied without damaging the paint underneath. HELP!

I don't know what would work to remove them but I bet your paint will be slightly discolored when you take them off because part of its been more exposed to the sun.

Although, if you have any pictures I would be interested to see, since I live in hot so cal.

just heat them up with a hair dryer... and yes the paint underneath will be different as it hasn't been exposed to sun as much as the rest of the car...

3m emblem remover FTW.
Clearcoat has been known to come up with the stripes so beware
of the hair drier method of softening the adhesive.
You dont mention the color of the stang or the color of the stripes.
Thats a big determining factor as to the amount of fadeing.
Get a handle on the wifey and make her embrace your fetish...

This is why I'm having mine painted on Costs a lot more, but worth it in the long run. Sorry to hear yours didn't work out for you and best of luck in removing them. There should be a shop in your area that can do the removal relatively cheap if you don't want to hassle with it.

You may have to have a new set of stripes reinstalled if the paint has faded slightly......
