Default GT/to/GT500 conversion questions

I am starting my conversion this week. Dropping parts off for paint in the morning.

Question 1: I have a take off bumper cover. The bumper does not have the tabs that slide into the bottom of the head lights. It looks as though they were removed. Like they were rivited on but drilled out to be removed. Can I buy new tabs?

Question 2: I have the foam isolater pad already on the front. The parts explosion shows a 17C947 part behind it. Kind of looks like the one that snaps on to the back of the GT foam isolater. Do I need this?

hey ebe, did you buy your parts from Ford? Do you have a list of the parts you bought for this conversion? I'm looking to do something very similar and I'm curious to how you're going about it

I got my list of parts off of a thread here. There are lists on the barnett forum as well.

I have a parts explosion for the bumper/grille from the dealer but the numbers on it don't match the numbers on the list so they must cross reference.

Go to my thread and youll find everything you need, from parts list, install info, little tricks, and lots of pics and additions.

On the GT the bracket tha goes in the headlight is part of the bumper. On the GT500 cover, it is a piece you need to buy and screw on.

The Isolator on the GT will work on the GT500 cover but it wont be a nice fit. Youll be able to push down on the bumper and will flex a bit. Not a big deal but for the few bucks extra you get a pc. that is molded perfectly to fit inside the bumper skin. PM me if you need help and enjoy the thread.

Look on page 18 of the thread and these are the Part #'s for the brackets, I believe. Just verify when ordering.

7R3Z-8B455-A, 1, Bracket
7R3Z-8B455-B, 1, Bracket

I would call Kevin at Clevenger 18005705554 if you need help. He is the best guy to talk to for getting a kit put together.

Just for fun, here is my latest look and a glimpse into your future. If you need help getting a Trufiber hood, let me know.

Thanks for the reply. I do have the GT500 foam isolater already on the front. When I went back to the dealer to finish up get the last head light and the fog lamps he gave me a parts explosion that shows a piece behind the one I have now.

55 pages on your thread.... Wow....

Another problem I ran in to as well. I sold my hood, front bumper assembly and fender wells and traded back V6 fender wells. They don't fit. The GT ones would have worked with redrilling. The V6 ones I have angle back in at the very bottom. I guess I need to bit the bullet and by the GT500 ones as well. I will read the 55 pages and maybe the answer is there.

mellowyellow,

Beautiful Car !!!

I already have the GT500 wheels and the GT500 hood to at least the front end and wheels are going to be just like the real deal. I am still contemplating the grille badge and what I should change the fender badges to.

The fender guards are the same as the V6. That turn in is designed to fit with the GT500 chin spoiler. You can trim the GT ones to work as well.
