Hooray for wrecks!

Yep...
It doesn't make any sense what so ever to put a factory hood at the $1300 price mark...
Every aftermarket hood out there, just about, is cheaper than that.
It's actually a good thing that it's so outrageously priced, that way, you can always afford an aftermarket one when Insurance is involved.
The Foose hood I have is now cheaper than the OEM lol.

Yeah, of course, the only aftermarket hood that's precisely what I'm looking for is the Aeroform one. Which is pretty darned expensive as well. And from what I'm heard takes a not insignificant amount of prep. So, I don't know how much that'd run me beyond what the labor for the Ford hood would be, and whether I'd end up ahead or behind in that game. I wish I had a better idea of it.

this was discussed in another thread, i guess the gt500 conversions now is going for an excess of 2 grand! i doubt gieco will pay that out. and i dont know if they will split pay if you want to upgrade, when my instrument cluster went out i wanted to upgrade to GT cluster, Ford told me they would pay half of the stock V6 cluster or non at all, LAAAAME.

DBovine, I've liked those hoods since I saw them... way before I actually even had my Mustang. But, I've always felt the 68 Shelby was the best looking Mustang that's ever been made. And with the new body always wanted someone to make a hood reminiscent of it with the two giant wide scoops out at the front of the hood. There was the GTS hoods, and the Cervini's Type IV, which I liked... but just weren't quite what I was looking for.
Then I saw the Fang/Aeroform one it was exactly what I'd pictured. I think if I could get them to do it for the sale price they're running on the 67 style, it could work.
Anyone in the body industry (I might be looking at you, Pascal) have a rough guess on the difference in price for prep work on the stock hood (do you even need to do anything with one of those?) vs a mediocre fiberglass job (as I've heard the Aeroform stuff takes a bit of working)?
I guess if I can't get the Mystery 8 I'll have to find something else. Might just stick with the Stocker, though. I dunno. I guess that's the problem with nothing else really grabbing me. Also, trying to figure out if, theoretically, the GT/CS front end work work with the Mystery8. I saw one that I didn't like, but it had all kinds of chrome work in the grill and like, spikes and stuff all over.
