How to: Custom Auto Upholstery?
#11
Some type of instruction is needed before I go ahead with buying anything, but it depends on how motivated I get towards this project. I'm wondering if putting a leather skin on the existing plastic pieces will be as extensive? I'd like to involve some stitching and multiple fabrics (like shown with DSV's project) Might be a good first start before I try tackling something like redoing the seats.

I would like to say that it is important to not give up and keep on trying. I would suggest that you have to take some time out of your busy schedule to learn that thing because it requires an expert to do so. all the best.

We redid all of the seats on our boat and it was pretty simple. If you have the existing fabric just use a seam ripper to remove the stitches and take each of the pieces of fabric to make new patterns. Then just cut new stuff and sew it how the others were.
Im over simplifying it but its not that hard either. Sewing leather will be a pain though...
