ok so my dad just got a silver 2011 5.0 with the glass roof, and is looking at installing a 21 inch matte black stripe down the center just like the blackjack roush. he was quoted 650 for the install+stripe, which i think sounds pretty damn expensive. he was told its 400 alone for the stripe itself. what are peoples thoughts on this? the place hes gonna get it done is where the ford dealership sends their stuff to get done, so i feel like it might be marked up quite a bit

Order your stripe online and install yourself. Or have any decent bodyshop or tint shop to install it. Just call around. No way should you pay that much.

^+1 That price sounds outrageous.
The stripe should not be near that much or the labor to install a stripe of vinyl.

Waaaay too expensive. For $650 you should be able to get the stripe painted on.

In my humble opinion I'd skip the vinyl altogeather and get them painted on. My own experance with vinyl has not been good. If you want vinyl then ask for the list of things that will void the warrenty, which is just about anything your likely to do.

That's way too high. Call around, look online, you have tons of options.

But it shouldn't cost nearly that much. $400 for graphics? Ha.

I had mine done at a local shop (Auto Trim Design) here in Kalamazoo about 2 years ago for $550.00. That was parts and labor. However, Mine included two stripes down the middle, wide stripes with smaller pin strips & lettering on each side, and lettering on the hoodscoop.

buy the stripe online...you can get with any online vinyl shop that makes graphics for our cars and get it pretty dang cheap and install in yourself....installation tools include an extension cord for your hair dryer and some little plastic/rubber squeegies used to press out the water from underneath and about 3 hours of time...save yourself some money and gain some experience and confidense....i redid the stripes on my previous stang and at firs tit was intimidating but afterwards i was glad....see if rockymountaingraphics.com has anything for ya and if they dont im sure they can point you in the right direction....gl

Here is where i got mine from, great prices also very good quality material. The installer I used requested it from here because they use great material. I payed 400 for material and install of the stripes and my hood scoop. My dealership quoted me 750 just for the vinyl.
