Default Trufiber GTS-4 No hood pins

So I've had my GTS-4 on my car since October but put it away for the winter with the intention of putting the recessed hood pins on sometime over the winter..... But still never got around to it.

I've driven it with no pins up to about 50mph and was starting to get a little flutter so that's been my limit until I get the pins installed. I know that these hoods will always have some flutter but I was curious how strong that hood latch is on the hood itself. Can I run it up to 70-75 without those hood pins installed. Looking at the bracket that mounts to the core support, the bar that the pins lock onto look dinky and doesn't look like they could actually stop the hood from going anywhere. So, anyone with experience with the trufiber recessed pins?

The hood should stay on no matter what. But the pins are there so that there is NO flutter what so ever and it is added safety. I would keep it max around 50 until you get those pins

I have gotten her up to 75-80 but it was def fluttering... I need to do the same thing. Does it really matter that much if I have the non-recessed hood compared to the recessed one if I want hood pins??

No that shouldn't matter. Did they offer it in non-recessed? Don't remember looking at that one.

Try raising the rubber hood bump stops that will help with the flutter, I have the same hood and it used to flutter a little, once I raised them it went away.

I have the pins on mine. The non recessed version with the traditional Shelby pins will naturally offer you more security but Ive had no problems with mine even over 100. The bump stops definitely help though.
