Default 2011 GT500 steering wheel restitched

I picked up a new style GT500 wheel for install in my '05, but the white stitching, as much as many folks really like it, wasn't going to fly with my red/black interior.

Just finished restitching the wheel in red (took a good bit of willpower to take an x-acto to a new steering wheel)

Anyway, here's a few shots of the results:

Not on a bet. The long section across the top half of the wheel was a serious pain trying to not let the two needles and their respective threads get tangled up, etc. I can only imagine what a pain a long seat seam would be.

So, putting the new wheel into our cars, is that mostly a visual mod or can you get the buttons to work as well?

I have a plan to get the extra buttons functional with my Kenwood deck, and I know ar least one individual that was able to do so with one of the factory radios (took some serious work though including sending his radio out to be reprogrammed to activate the feature)

Here's an installed pic (couldn't post one before because I was testing Ford-a-tudes V6 gauge cluster prototype, but now the news blackout on that is lifted)
