Need new Head Unit

Interesting. They probably don't consider text message a driving-safe app. Makes sense I guess. I wonder if you have to play iPod music through the Pioneer app, or if you can just use your regular iPod icon.
I currently have Pioneer's AVH-4300DVD, their first iPod/Pandora integrated head unit. It has it's quirks, but it is a great unit, especially compared to my factory one. However, I was thinking of trying this App Radio unit because it allows Google Maps to show up directly on the touch screen, and it also allows software updates. I may have to at least give it a try.

I love my Kenwood DNX6160...it was a bit pricey though, comes with a garmin gps, parrot bluetooth and it's very easy to run a chord to the center console for your ipod for that stealth look. crutchfield has them reasonably priced. check them out if you can, i have nothing but good things to say about it!
