I see where alot of them come from w regards to putting the stripe over the clearbra... putting matte black under the glassy bra would make it awkwardly glossy. Also, the purpose of the bra is to protect the hood and paint, not necessarily anything else.
yes, I am ok with the little seam that would result when the stripe goes over the edge of the bra.
Hypothetically, if in a few years the section over my front bumper had gotten beat to hell, how much do you think it would cost to replace?
And before anyone says anything about why were you on a camaro or mini forum, I just googled vinyl stripe and clear bra and thats what came up. Mini and Camaro people are at times usefull idiots

Not sure about the clear bra issue, but I ordered the 3M automotive stripes for my car and hadthem installed by a local vinyl sign shop. Cost for stripes $150 installation $300. By the way I'm following the same thought process you did, try the vinyl for the while, if I like the results I'll eventually have it painted on. Good luck

The concern I would have about the stripe / bra combo is the same as you mentioned above. Being under the clear bra would make that section shinny.
If you go over the bra you may need to replace that section over time due the road gravel you mentioned earlier. This small section would be something you could easily do yourself and I would expect the material cost to be around $20.

... I guess what it comes down to is that I could do the stripes easy. Now, to have to pay a crapload of cash to remove and then replace a clearbra in addition to the stripe, that I couldnt do. If it wont look good over the bra, then I go stripeless. The bra is already down and I have no intention of messing with it

You are getting it installed by someone, right? Well find a shop to do it and ask for quotes, and their opinion about the stripe over the bra. Personally I wouldn't do it, but if the shop says it's ok, it's on their heads.
