Has anyone ever tried to use Fabric or plastic paint?
I'm going to try and go to the salvage yard, or somwhere to see if there are any wrecked mustangs. I want to do the 2 tone interior. Gray and Black. If I can't find the parts I need, has anyone ever painted their headliner or parts? I know of the plastic being painted, but don't know about head liner.

I've painted the plastic pieces, it's not too bad...I use Krylon plastic paint (although it WILL NOT DRY on soft vinyl..) And clear coat...it looks very nice. I've got the grey/black going now, I'll post up pictures later of some of the custom stuff I've done.
For the soft vinyl you have to use a paint that does not contain Xylene or the other chemical that starts with "x". It will not dry, and remains tacky for months. Such as Arm rest cover, and part of the door panel.

ive been on the fence for a couple years on painting any trim panels. i have a tan/black int and i really want it all black bad.
the headliner material can be bought. the old headliner can be removed by removing the shell from the car, pulling the fabric off and using a wire brush to remove the foam thats glued on. the new liner has foam and is just glued onto the shell. really not too hard to do. my g/f just did a van liner, they are huge. thats the best way to change the color of that.
the trim panels would be subject to scratching and not near as durable as a oem panel, which would cost big bucks. but could be re sanded and painted again, but its the one of those no turning back things thats stopping me.

I painted the hard plastic and soft vinyl parts in my Fox, converting it from porno red to a black/gray combo. Both the paint for the hard parts and the dye for the soft parts worked excellent. It can chip or scrape if you put effort into it, but for just daily use I had no issues with it at all. I am considering using it again to make my black/tan interior of my 08, all black.
They dont show an 05 + paint color chart, but if your looking for black, Im sure it fairly universal if you stay with the same year paint and dye.
