someone ask me how I installed the ponys to the headrests on another thread thought I should answer it on this thread.
There are 4 posts on the back of the emblem I broke the 2 on the sides off with needlenose plyers i went ahead and put the leather skin on measured and centered where I wanted the emblem on the headrest then i pushed down firmly to mark the leather where the posts are. removed the emblem and poked very small holes for the posts in the leather with a gouging tool that came with my screwdriver set. then I took an old Nintendo game case the old school ones and cut it into a rectangle just a little smaller than the the tribar part of the emblem. I took the emblem and pushed down on the plastic to mark it then took the gouging tool and poked very tiny holes through the plastic you want to make sure the holes are smaller than the post on the emblem so when you slide the plastic onto the post it will have to expand a little so it will grip tightly around the post. I then placed the emblem on the headrest pushed the posts through the tiny holes in the leather and then from the inside of the headrest skin attached the plastic tabs I made pushing then flush against the inside lining of the skin. I put two tabs on each headrest to be on the safe side. clipped the fastener at the bottom of the headrest and reattached the headrest to the seat. It sounds a little complicated but it was actually easy to do and the emblems are on there tight dont have to worry about them falling off.

Very nicely done! I like it! I wouldn't mind doing something like that to my interior but it looks like way too much work...
After you painted it did you clear coat? If you did how many coats?

what exactly is that reason I tried to look it up today and all I got was the guy who came up with the original design for the mustang pony was right handed so he naturally drew from left to right starting with the ponys head. Some other forums stated that the pony should always face the engine or which ever way has the most room for the pony to run, can someone enlighten me why the pony should always face left? I may change my passengers side headrest if there is a significant reason to.

The reason is the horse faces left because when you watch a horse race, the horses are facing right (from the grand stands). Its represents the mustang going against the grain, and the free nature of the breed. True story.

I honestly don't think it was thought out. The most plausible versions in my mind is either Phil Clark drew it cause it was natural, or it was done facing right and when made into a stamp for the body emblems was reversed inadvertently and just left alone. All the other stories I think were made up after the fact. I always enjoyed my version above though.
Still a great job with the interior.
