Default DOT/SAE approved black/smoked front turn signals

Does anyone know where to buy a set of black or smoked front turn signals that are DOT/SAE approved?

Also, what's the difference between black and smoked? I'm assuming black has a clear lens with a black background and the smoked have a tinted lens.

Thanks,
Mark

No clue. Mine are black. As in I painted um black. I would consider clear lenses with less coats of niteshade smoked. But I wouldn't look for DOT/SAE approved. If you're concerned about that then don't get darkened turn signals...But I suppose a call to AM or a search on their site would probably give you a clear answer.

I have to go with Rylay here. I have never heard of such a film that had such a statement. I would think that the DOT would never approve any such tinting as even the mildest tint will limit visibility though it won't really be noticeable.

In fact some places slap on "For show purposes only" or a statement like that in order to sell these parts and cover their legal tracks. If you want smoked lights, you'll just have to hope that you don't **** off (or come across a pissed off) cop on a bad day.

I've never had a cop stop me for my headlights (or taillights for that matter) in the 6 months that I've owned them. Then again, I also don't drive around town like a mad man on a mission, so I don't give that douchey vibe off to make easy enemies or seem like an enemy of the state haha

Just don't walk around waving your ***** about it and cops won't bother you. I've tinted everything but headlights and the front window and I HAVE been known to drive like a madman on a mission for about six months.

You could always look into the clear/chrome ones or switchbacks if those are legal.

Also irk where you live but cops around me pull over ricey cars far more than muscle cars for those kinds of things.

Not sure if it's some sort of patriotism towards domestics or muscles or what. I was once driving with a friend who owns a ricey looking civic and he got pulled over for tints while me and my dim tail lights faded away in the distance

I'm not as worried about getting pulled over as I am about it being an insurance liability if I get in an accident. Even though it's unlikely, if I got into an accident and had non-approved turn signals they could use that to place me at fault.

Same rules apply, life's got risks,

Go with tinted film so if you ever wreck you have a chance to pull um off and sweep um beneath the carpet. Like I said, I'm pretty sure clear ones are legal but even a modified engine or a broken wrist could be enough to swing they legal hammer against you...

Blacked out anything isn't bad until you get in an accident. Then the other party can use it to their advantage.
