I would use Meguiars Ultimate Compound instead of the polish to remove swirls (if you're not trying to do that I used the polish in the pics on the first page). What I do for a paint correction is wash/clay/wash/severe swirl remover/swirl remover/polish or a glaze/sealant. I just did my hood last night and it took 2 hours to do the severe swirl remover and up. Also, each step required a different pad. On a side note, if you're not using a good buffer then nothing is going to happen (swirl removal wise). I use the Porter Cable 7424xp.

The right side was done.
