To give you an idea, just a PINT of base coat ranges from $50 to $120 if it's red, the you have to take the clear and other materials into consideration.
There are cheaper brands of paint out there but they don't mach for schit and don't cover real good, so you end up using twice the base material anyway.
Oil going up has a direct effect on the price of chemicals, any chemicals...

yes you are correct. All colors don't cost the same. Paints with a metallic look are more expensive than the flat colors

Yes, red is the most expensive. Metallic or not.
For the other colors, it depends on how much pearl you have in them...
Blue and green is about the same.
Black and straight white is the cheapest, while a tri-coat red metallic is stupid expensive.

That's really interesting, I never had any idea. Why is it that red is so much more expensive? Sorry I'm kinda turning this into 20 Questions.

The reason red is more expensive is because the pigments used to make red are the most expensive. Paint is basically pigments suspended in liquid and those red pigments cost the most to manufacture. Also it does not cover properly, you need several coats to cover properly. You can save a bit on paint, for example for a bright red you may prime white first or black for a darker red colour.
