A shameless rip off it appears from the first picture, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't like it. Looks like a Fairlady hooked up with a Mustang and made some kind of abomination that oddly works pretty well.

I owned two Celicas, a Black '76 GT fastback with rear louvers and a red '83 GTS coupe, both manuals. Loved them both, but they have probably rusted to the ground by now, like most cars in that era.

I don't like it sorry guys but i can't stand when car companies steal ideas from others to boost sales and that's exactly what that car was. I'm just stuck in my stubborn all American ways.

I sold my 66 Mustang Vert to buy a brand new 1972 Celica ST. Not a bad car, thanks to my small town Toyota dealer who rebuilt the engine twice under secret warranties - 18R engine sucked 20 R was better. Had one more Toyota and watched it rust away in my driveway (Ontario Canada)... Never bought a Japanese car again.
The first gen Celica did look cool though.

Yeah, I remember a time when the Japanese tried to look more like american designs. Now all the Domestic makers are trying to look like the imports...I'm sorry, but I'm not looking in that direction. And I see that Ford is no longer looking like a Ford, all except the Mustang of course. At least for now. But, time will tell if they screw that up too.
