Default Some cheap mods, but cheaper.

So I'm sitting here for the next few months just waiting to ship out, and in the meantime I really have nothing to do besides train and ponder the internet since I live in the middle of nowhere.

As of late I've been planning all these sick mods for my 05 like a CS front/gt500 rear, fog lights as well as dual exhaust and so on. While I have the funds I need I just don't want to really spend it because I'd only have a few months to enjoy them, and then I might not even be statically stationed, and in which case I'd have to sell my girl.

Now that I've gone off on a rabbit trail I'll try and get back to it. So with all this big planning I've been having the urge to do something-- anything really. So I started exploring AM a little more and saw a couple things I liked: splash guards and the fender hash marks; however, at $49.99 and $39.99 I didn't really think that was a price I could live with, although I know their customer service and support is great.

So I went on ebay, and found pretty much identical items: $49.99 turned out to be $27.00 shipped, and $39.99 turned out to be $12.95 shipped, $24.99 turned out to be $11.49. Yes, the hash marks were indeed not pre-cut and what not, and also were 3" instead of AM's 2 3/8", but hey I saved a good chunk of change.

If someone wants to do a few dirt cheap mods these are what I got:

Caliper paint:
http://www.americanmuscle.com/yellow-caliper-paint.html - $24.99
http://www.ebay.com/itm/150910426439 - $11.49

Splash guards:
http://www.americanmuscle.com/mustan...-set-0509.html - $49.99
http://www.ebay.com/itm/130643969714 - $27.00

Hash marks:

http://www.americanmuscle.com/black-...ipes-0512.html - $39.99
http://www.ebay.com/itm/300805327891 - $12.95

Again I love AM and all but I'm pretty spastic about getting something cheaper elsewhere.

So my main focus was on the hash marks, I went around looking/calling for details such as placement and stuff but always got one of those "I'm sorry, I don't have that information." So I did some measurements and decided on a 14 1/2" from the front for the hash start, at a 65 degree angled cut. Mine are a little more forward than others, but that's what I did. You can put them where you like.

I did run into a pain in the rear when I was getting on the last little bit right above the fender, it was doing a cone thing where the middle or one of the sides would pop up from the weird angle it was at, I simply heated the hash with a hair dryer(took a while on high) and pressed it down till it was nice and smooth, kind of a cheap trick but it works.

Now what I also did was space out 1/2" to go over the lip to tuck into the hood a little: https://i.imgur.com/L6O7d.jpg

And after: https://i.imgur.com/Cz8WD.jpg & https://i.imgur.com/b5vLw.jpg

Also the splash guards, something I really needed since we're heading into rain: https://i.imgur.com/21BUB.jpg

Still working on getting the calipers done.

Ant-Man,

I'm glad to hear you we're able to get your parts. They look really good on your Stang, great job so far! The reason our hash marks are so much more expensive is because they're made from 3M Vinyl which will last forever! Either way thank you for the kind words, I really appreciate it.

I just wanted to let you know we do offer price matching, a military discount and a Forums member discount for all active posting Members above 50 post! We can't price match Ebay, but anytime you find an item cheaper at a legitimate competitor, let me know and I'll match it or beat it!

These programs usually allow us to be just as cheap and usually cheaper then our competitors! Let me know if I can ever be of any assistance.

Most importantly, Thank you for you service and bravery, God bless!

-Dan
