Question Sealing Shaker Hood Hole Better?

I have the CDC/Foose hood cut for the Shaker scoop. I do not have the factory hood mat or the lower part of the trim ring installed. I trimmed back the CDC Shaker plastic shroud and installed some weatherstriping to try and seal the engine compartment from water, but it is not tall enough to touch the hood, so water could get it. My problem is that the car is park outside during the summer months as I have no garage, but has a decent water resistant Covercraft cover that prevents most but not all water from getting onto the car.

Does anyone have any ideas what could be done to seal it better? I have looked for a taller weatherstriping than the one i have which is 1-1/16 tall, but cannot find anything.

Here is a picture of what I have

do you have the lower trim ring to install?

did you call CDC for advice? I called them about my chin spoiler and they had great customer service

I do have the lower trim ring still. The shop that did the hood work kept it. I got it from them and took a look to see how it fits. The biggest issue with that ring, is that CDC made it to fit with the factory hood mat in place. It is molded to the mats contours. Wll I do not have the mat and it looks like crap and the front part of it does not fit too well with the upper ring because of the custom bending the had to do to get it to fit the hoods top skin. I might be able to get my hands on a used mat and then cut out the hold and see how it fits. I also have a custom hood mat made with an aircraft liner material from a guy in Michigan (http://hoodliners.blogspot.ca/). I might see how it works with the bottom trim ring. I still do not think it will close up the gap between the hood and the shaker shroud.

What is the problem with water getting in around the shaker? I've had my shaker for about three years now without any problems and I have nothing around the edge of the shaker.
