Homemade Bullitt grille
#4
Thanks! $50 sheet of mesh off Ebay, matched the original pattern just smaller. Made a hot knife out of my soldering iron slowly cut out the general shape. Cut the tabs off the original grille surround and plasti-welded them to the new mesh pops right in. Rattle canned the core support areas you could see behind it semiflat black, grille just needs a few places smoothed out a couple finishing touches. Looks pretty good I think, like the deep inset look without a bezel surround.

Looks nice! I did a similar thing with mine only I used a metal mesh with smaller holes. My problem is that when I attached the mesh to the plastic frame I did not allow for any flex. After a few months the epoxied areas cracked free. I'll re-do it this winter.
What is this plasti-welding you refer to? I used two part flexible bumper epoxy to fill in any defects and attach the mesh.

Thanks! Yeah they just don't want people to see the body color core support, horns, a/c condenser, etc. Nothing a can of black spray paint can't help to conceal...
