Hey guys so I ordered a 55watt Xantec HID 4,300k kit off ebay and tried connecting them using the stock factory harness. Well they would only turn on when the car was off, but once I turned the car on it wouldn't work.

So I went out and bought a relay harness and have the power now coming from the battery to the HID Kit.

I tested them the day I installed them, and after I had a very bad rattlesnake noise coming from the relay harness. After driving with it like that for 30mins, I came back home and it stopped making the noise.

Last night I was driving and the HID Kit looked amazing and it glew the road! It was a perfect white color with a slight hint of yellow, they looked exactly like the factory hid's! As I was driving, the lights started to go a little blue on me, then back to it's original color, then they started flickering, drivers side, then immediatly passengers, then back to the drivers. At one point my passenger light did turn off on me. I would turn off my lights and turn them back on and they would be just fine for 5 minutes, then do it again.

How can I prevent this issue? I have a relay harness, and I have the HID Kit. Is there something I can add to the relay harness to help out?

A good start would be to buy a decent HID kit, not the eBay junk.

Sounds like you got some super cheap ballasts.

I suggest throwing the OEM parts back on and lurking around HIDplanet.com

I've had my share of eBay "kits". They fail often, and always at the worst time. If you want true headlight performance you need to do a projector retrofit. It is worth the money and, trust me, you don't want to be 30mi from anywhere when your headlights fail.

Do it right, do it once.

please. for the love of jesus do not put a plug and play kit in a halogen housing.

your choices are get some quality halogen h13 bulbs, or, to do a correct retrofit with OEM projectors and bulbs.

1) don't put HIDs in housings meant for halogens, and
2) especially don't buy the filth sold on eBay.

HIDs kits in halogen reflectors actually give you a worse beam pattern, the arc is in a completely different spot than a halogen bulb, the return wire shadow is most likely in your field of vision, and it's just plain rude towards all the other drivers sharing the road with you. Even if the cutoff is sharp in S197s thanks to the awesome design of our reflectors, the beam still scatters all over the place into oncoming traffic. The scattering of light from these kits will actually fatigue your eyes also ( a proper HID setup will not), go for a long drive at night and you'll find this out.
