I'm sorry I thought you meant the other board that uses relays to fool the Z1 into thinking the handbrake is on. Yes the little $25 board is great, worth the money for sure!

kcary, not sure how good that would look with a white cable hanging about all the time.
The glove box just seemed an ideal place to hide it all away as you can control the ipod via the Z1 screen and I didn't really want it on show, plus in Florida its very hot to be on display all the time, in my case it was an ideal position but maybe not for everyone?
I also have the Z1. It was professional installed. I had them install the override to allow you to play DVDs while driving. It's a little switch I press 3 times on boot up. My kids love it. Also did the truck with Dynamat. Really helps the Shaker 1000 subs sound cleaner.

Hey outatime, thats awesome. Ur car looks really good, exterior and interior. I have a couple of questions though, is your rear camera a pioneer product as well? How clear is the camera during the day and how is it at night? would any other brand camera work with the unit, or no. Also what is that eject button, looks kinda cool. thanx
I love your setup. You listed my complete buy list in the near future. What does the Rear camera look like at night? The steering wheel remote can you post a picture of it mounted please? Also I assume it is wireless so does it work well? One last question, did you replace the stock speakers and amp?
Thanks
Greg

Thanks for starting this thread, firstly... Secondly, and I just posted this question in the other avic forum so excuse me if someone has already answered it... I'm prepping myself for the (attempted) install of the z1, and had a few quick questions. First, where is the car speed signal input located on the mustang? It looks from the install like you need to connect that, but that the position varies by car maker. Second, I like the look of the install, that kit that you have to fill the gap around the unit looks clean- is that the f-150 one from crutchfield? Third, where did you decide to position your gps antenna? I have a friend with a 350Z, who put his inside the trunk, attached to the trunk lid, and he says it works fine. I've read other people say that you should have it mounted on the dash for maximum coverage- any thoughts? Fourth, did you use the crutchfield wiring harness when installing? If so, what was the difficulty level, and if not, what product did you use?
Thanks in advance, sorry for all the questions, but I'm in an info gathering mode here until that headlight-flash over ride shows up (don't want to do an install and then rip it all apart again)...
Hi , sorry for the delay, thank you both for the nice words about my stang Yes the Reverse Camera is Pioneer as well, I got it from Ebay new, do a search you should find some although I did see a guy with a camera in the trunk lock which looks cool but I didn't have that size camera.
Camera is really clear at day but its got a wide angle lens on it so you got a fisheye type view outside, will get some photos for you of the install and view later on. Night time I have not tested it yet as I only really fitted it correctly yesterday as it was sitting on my rear shelf before and I have tinted windows so it wasn't very good...its a lot better now
Yes you can buy other cameras but they don't just plug in, you have to do some rewiring of the camera cables, if your not very experienced with cameras or wiring then its really best just to get the pioneer one.

Hello, have attached some images of the rear view camera in action and also steering wheel remote, I love the remote its really handy because it can be a pain to turn vol up and down when driving and this I just move my thumb, its meant to be installed on the right but I have mine of the left (find it easier to control and not in my way as much). Yep its wireless IR and works great no problems with it at all so far!
No I used stock speakers and amp and its perfect, unless you want it much louder I really don't see the need, I think the stock speakers/amp is more than enough...although I did take out the Shaker 500 so it depends what you had in before. I prefer functions over loudness of sound.
Thanks

No problem glad I could help others with there installs ok VSS you need is in the engine area, this was a pain to do and I fed the pink wire all over the place, I will attach a photo of my install, it doesn't look pretty I should have used black wire and black cable ties but I had nether to hand and was running low on patience but I can always replace them later on down the line.
This website has the info to the VSS wire in detail http://www.wieduwilt.us/mustang/avic-d1.htm
Its basically a wire coming out of a plug in the engine that's got a load more wires on it, I followed the wire a few inches and then crimped off it (it was the only way as there isn't much room to move in there) and ran that back to the harness via a hole in the drivers side and then cable tied it out of the way.
Yes I bought the F150 Crutchfield dash kit which fits perfectly, the GPS is on my rear shelf, see images, I decided it was the best place as I didn't want to run it to the roof or trunk, it works fine for me and signal is great...although Sirius isn't work there very well at all so I moved that to the front of the car, see images.
The CF harness was fine, its color coded so I just took the new Pioneer harness and the new CF and wired it up inside the house, its pretty easy but go through the guides you have with both just to make sure. Also add the 5v regulator inside too to save time.
I have had my centre panel and Z1 in and out half a dozen times now whilst finding out new things or things I should have done so your doing the best thing waiting for your flashing unit. Make sure you have all the correct tools for the job and take it slow, I am really proud of my achievements installing the Z1 and sure you will be happier installing it yourself knowing everything's done right!
Thanks
Stuart
